Making progress on the world’s most vexing problems requires people coming together in an environment that inspires collaboration – where diverse voices are heard, new disciplines contribute, and innovative solutions are explored.
The Grand Challenges Solutions Hub will sit at the crossroads of science and humanities at UC Davis and use ground-breaking building design to create a truly collaborative, transdisciplinary space. By integrating the humanities with science, technology, engineering, and math, the Solutions Hub will enable a new paradigm for campus engagement. Developing holistic approaches through a lens of justice and equity is central to Grand Challenges, and the Solutions Hub will break away from traditional models to foster collaboration in ways other buildings do not. The Solutions Hub will encourage inventive minds from across disciplines to convene and help solve today’s grand challenges and prevent tomorrow’s crises.
To foster such impactful work, we are designing an inclusive space where users are supported and put in the best positions possible to pursue transdisciplinary solutions. The design will focus on the well-being of collaborators, employing the latest in innovations that inspire meaningful collaboration. The Solutions Hub is envisioned as space for people inside and outside the university to come together, learn, and grow as a community to advance solutions to the world’s most urgent issues.
The Grand Challenges Solutions Hub is currently in the planning phase. We will provide updates here as we make progress on the design and construction.
